Today I graduated from IU Bloomington’s SWSEEL Georgian with Dr. Dodona Kiziria! It has been a great 8 weeks and I am very sad that classes are over (although, to be honest, I am quite ready to be done with Bloomington’s drought and 100+ degree heat). It’s a shame because I feel like we’ve just started to make real progress–reading the Georgian alphabet without difficulty, becoming familiar with all of the cases and the main verb tenses, and developing a solid foundation in vocabulary.
Even though I have the GRE next week and will soon be making the final rounds to friends’ houses before I leave for Tbilisi, I have to stay committed to practicing Georgian a little every day using Anki flashcards for my vocabulary and Aronson and Kiziria’s “Georgian Language and Culture” (intermediate) book.
